On April 2, LCCR welcomed more than 170 guests to our annual Celebration for Children’s Rights event. This year’s event was a special one, as it marks 20 YEARS of LCCR’s service to the community. Collectively, we raised $137,000 to support LCCR’s vital work in our community. A new record! Thank you!!!

Since 2006, LCCR has helped thousands of arrested children achieve the safety and stability necessary to grow up healthy and leave the legal system behind for good. In doing so, we have become a nationwide leader in showcasing what an effective response to youth arrest can and should look like.

At this year’s Celebration, our guests were treated to the debut of two brand new videos about LCCR, courtesy of Heiress Marketing. The first tells the story of the many ways LCCR helps arrested and incarcerated youth, and our community as a whole. The second provides a heartfelt testimonial from an LCCR client who is now thriving. Both are now available for viewing on LCCR’s YouTube channel–check them out!

Our guests also helped us present Journey Allen, Local Artist and the Founder of Spectrum Arts NOLA, with our 2026 Diamonique Whaley Champion of Justice Award. “Journey is a quiet force in New Orleans’ youth justice landscape,” says LCCR Executive Director Kristen Rome. “Her work to engage our most vulnerable young people through art has been transformative and expanded what is possible in our community. She lives her values and stands firm in her commitment to using imagination as a conduit for personal and collective liberation. I’m so grateful to work alongside her as we reimagine youth justice in New Orleans and beyond.”

In addition to our speakers and videos, we wish to also recognize our amazing partners on this year’s Celebration raffles. Trixie Minx Productions donated a burlesque night out for two prize package–congrats to Miles T. on this raffle win! Botanical Nail & Skin Studio kindly provided a $200 gift certificate, good for any of their luxurious self-care offerings–congrats to Damia KD on winning this prize! Steve Wilshire and Heaven Hill Brands returned this year to again offer a private whiskey or tequila tasting for twelve–a huge hit with past events. Congrats to the legal team at Sessions Israel & Shartle on this prize win!

As always, we can think of no better way to spend a beautiful spring evening than to come together with so many of our friends and supporters. Thank you for joining us and making this such a wonderful night out!

A special thank you goes out to our 2026 Celebration host committee…
