John James, a native of New Orleans, is a Youth Advocate for LCCR. His work with Making Connections New Orleans (MCNOLA), an organization that focuses on the mental health and well-being of men of color, has prepared him for his role as a youth advocate. Through community level strategies and strategic partnerships, John was able to create programs and opportunities for participants within MCNOLA. Before beginning his journey with MCNOLA, John was a Recreation Center Manager with NORDC which is the city of New Orleans’ recreation department. While with NORDC, John was able to be innovative and creative to find ways to facilitate thriving community events and programs. After amazing success he received an “Employee of the Quarter” award, the first person within the organization to receive such an award.
