Joshua Thompson-Rodriguez

Civil Legal Services Staff Attorney

Joshua Thompson-Rodriguez, Esq. joined the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights in April 2025, drawn by a commitment to defending young people and supporting families navigating some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Before coming to LCCR, Joshua practiced in a range of areas, including immigration, family law, bankruptcy, and civil litigation. His work with unaccompanied migrant youth and immigrant families reinforced his belief that strong, client-centered advocacy can be life-changing—especially for children whose voices are often overlooked.

At LCCR, Joshua represents youth in both criminal and civil matters, working closely with the Children’s Defense Team to provide holistic, trauma-informed advocacy. His work includes juvenile delinquency defense, suppression and evidentiary litigation, courtroom advocacy, and post-disposition matters, as well as educational advocacy, expulsion and discipline hearings, and access to public benefits and services. He approaches each case with the understanding that legal issues are deeply connected to a child’s environment, school experience, and family support system.

Joshua earned his law degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Saint Peter’s College. He is fluent in Spanish and is currently learning French, allowing him to better serve the diverse communities represented at LCCR.
