Come Celebrate With Us 2025!

Our lawyers, social workers, and policy advocates work tirelessly in support of our kids all year long. But on this night, we celebrate.

Join us on Thursday, April 3rd at our annual benefit event: the Celebration for Children’s Rights.

We’ll be recognizing LCCR’s successes from the past year, when we:

  • Defended the rights of 578 children in New Orleans’ juvenile court, providing them with the supports and services needed to grow up healthy and successfully exit the legal system.
  • Furthered our reach into East Baton Rouge, where our Advanced Advocacy Project served 146 kids and continued to drive down the juvenile incarceration rate there.
  • Fought back against harmful legislation targeting Black youth. This includes our current No on Amendment 3 campaign, which seeks to defeat an amendment that would expand Louisiana’s ability to try children as adults for nearly any offense, including nonviolent crimes like shoplifting. We strongly oppose this amendment as it would needlessly expose more children to adult sentencing without clear benefits to youth or public safety.

We will also be presenting our annual Calogero Champion of Justice Award to Dominque Jones-Johnson, Founder & Executive Director of Daughters Beyond Incarceration, for her incredible work uplifting Black girls with parents in prison and developing them into advocates, policymakers, and grassroots activists to forever change lives, systems, and communities for good.

You’re a part of our children’s success! It’s the support of people like you that helps them thrive and leave the legal system behind for good. So come celebrate with us! Click here to RSVP.

This cocktail reception fundraiser will be held on Thursday, April 3 (6:00 – 8:30pm) at The Building, a beautiful art space located at 1427 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. (just across from the Jazz Market). Fun fact: The Building is located about two blocks from where LCCR was founded (as the Juvenile Justice Project of Louisiana) back in 1997. That makes this annual event a homecoming of sorts.

Business or business casual attire preferred.

While there is no minimum cost, a donation is required to attend.
